About The Wherever Congregation

  • Um, what is this?

This is a new way of doing church.

  • Wait, what?

Yeah, so traditional church doesn’t work for a lot of people. Maybe you have to work on Sunday mornings Or your kids have soccer games. Or you want to sleep in on your day off. Or you don’t know if organized religion is for you but you’re still interested in finding community and spirituality. This is for all of that.

  • Who’s behind all this?

Hi, I’m Caroline. I’m a millennial, mom of numerous small children, a Unitarian Universalist minister, a flight attendant, a has been beauty queen, and someone who really can’t fit Sunday morning church into my life or preferences most of the time.

  • Wait, Unitarian Universalist?

  • Is this a cult?

Not as far as we know… if you’re interested in signing up for a cult, this isn’t what you’re looking for, sorry!

  • Why should I bother with this?

You definitely don’t have to, but it could be interesting, fun, and useful. We’re interested in building community, genuine connections, exploring faith and spirituality, and supporting families. If you’re into some or all of that, you might be interested.

  • I don't believe in God, is this for me?

    Oh absolutely! No deities required.

  • I DO believe in God, is this for me?

Definitely. In Unitarian Universalism you’ll find the Divine described with many different names. It’s pretty cool.

  • I don't know what I believe. Is this for me?

Oh, so much. WELCOME. You’re going to like it here.

  • I’m curious about spirituality and religion, but I don’t want to accidentally end up in an evangelical cult.

You and me both, friend. Seriously, not a cult. Unitarian Universalism isn’t even a creedal religion. We have shared values that inform our beliefs and actions, but beyond that, what you believe is your thing.

  • I have kids. I am very tired and we are very busy.

That’s why this exists. These are some wild times. This is specifically designed for families. Let’s be in the trenches together. Teamwork makes the dream work.

  • Designed for families?! I don't have kids!

Having kids doesn’t make a family a family. Child free humans can still have families. No kids? No problem! Also we aren’t going to ask you why you don’t have kids. Or when you’re having kids. Ick.

  • Do I have to pay for this?

There are opportunities to support this project/work/experiment financially, but this isn’t a pay to play situation.

  • Is this a weird backdoor to Christian Nationalism?

No, we aren't all Christian here and we certainly aren't into THAT stuff. Ick.

  • Don't UUs already have an online church?

Yes! And just like we have more than one in-person congregation in many areas, we need more than one online option. If you're interested in some UU inside baseball about how The Wherever Congregation and The Church of the Larger Fellowship are similar and different, you can click here.
